Simple Kale Chips
One of the tastiest, easiest recipes out there. if you can not stand the thought of eating something green, steamed, with vingar and hot sauce. This recipe will help you to the other side.
I use an ol' timer dehydrator. 15 years old and still kickin'. The new ones today have temperature control, and special trays for making fruit leather. I still prefer mine.
Simply remove your ORGANIC kale from the stems, wash throughly and pat dry.
In a small saucepan, combine: 1/4 cup of organic coconut oil
3 Tbls of local honey
1/4 tsp of sea salt or a good salt of your choice
2-3 Tbls of sesame seeds, I prefer black roasted.
Warm on low, just until the coconut oil melts, (do NOT use your microwave for this,. the whole point is to increase your nutritional value) and whisk everything else in the recipe together and pour over the Kale. Now, massage the mixture into the leaves until they are evenly coated. Dont be gentle about this!!! you want to make sure all the leaves are coated front and back.
place inside your dehydrator over night and enjoy.
If you dont have a dehydrator,.place a cookie cooling rack on a cookie sheet. Raising the kale off the cookie sheet helps in the process, and keeps the kale from saturating in oil, and become crisp. set your oven on the lowest setting and leave in for 2-6 hours depending on the amount, but be careful, and watch it closely, if your kale turns yellow, it is ruined.
Other ways , remove the sesame seeds and add garlic and pepper, mix this up to meet your taste.
olive oil, honey, almond butter and cayenne pepper is wonderful or
nutritional yeast , which gives the kale a "cheesy" favor. The possibilites are endless
